Albanian Club Egnatia Honors Raphael Dwamena Following Historic First League Victory in 89 Years

Albanian side Egnatia paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Ghanaian international Raphael Dwamena following their historic league victory over the weekend. Egnatia secured their first Albanian Super League title in 89 years by defeating Partizani in the playoff final.

The triumph was bittersweet as the team remembered Dwamena, who tragically passed away in November 2023. Following their victory, Egnatia players honored Dwamena by holding up his shirt and displaying artistic works celebrating the former Black Stars forward.

Dwamena, who was only 28 years old, collapsed on the pitch during a league match between Egnatia and Partizani. The incident occurred in the 23rd minute of the game, and despite being rushed to the hospital, he did not survive.
