The management of the Ajaokuta Steel Company has reported a case of Covid-19 patient.

Furthermore, the establishment finally shut its health facility to allow for the decontamination, while contact tracing had begun.

A statement issued and posted on the hospital’s notice board by the management, on Friday,

and signed by the Deputy General Manager, A&HM, Salisu D.Y stated that they will close the hospital from 12 PM, same day.

It read:

“You may know a case of Covid-19 confirmed at the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited Medical Centre.

They have moved the victim to the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, under the watch of the relevant agency.

“We have begun contact tracing for Covid-19 test, being conducted by a team of

health professionals from the Kogi State Ministry of Health, Lokoja.

“In line with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocol and guidelines,

they have directed all contacts to proceed on self-isolation for 14 days, and

they will decontaminate the entire hospital to prevent infection and community spread.

“In view of this unfortunate development, they will shut the hospital down

for services effective 12 noon, Friday 7th August 2020.”
