Actor Reveals the Story Behind His Name Change to Segun Arinze

Renowned Nollywood actor Segun Arinze recently unveiled a surprising revelation about his identity, disclosing that his birth name is Segun Aina.

In an engaging interview on the ‘TalktoB’ podcast with Biola Bayo, the 58-year-old actor shared the story behind his stage name, Arinze.

Arinze recounted how he initially adopted the name Segun Arinze while pursuing a career in music.

The switch occurred unexpectedly during a concert in 1991 when he was introduced as Segun Arinze. This introduction, he explained, was a result of a mix-up, but the name stuck with him thereafter.

Reflecting on his journey, Arinze reminisced about his upbringing and the conflict with his father’s desire for him to become a lawyer instead of pursuing a career in the arts. Despite the initial resistance, Arinze’s passion for drama led him to study Dramatic Arts in Ife.
