Atalanta has now secured the services of 23-year-old Belgian forward Charles De Ketelaere from AC Milan, a move the seven-time UEFA Champions League winners are likely to regret deeply.

Charles De Ketelaere was among the last high-profile acquisitions made under Paolo Maldini before his departure from the club last year.
After showcasing his immense talent at Club Brugge, AC Milan invested significantly to bring De Ketelaere to San Siro, eventually paying around €36.5 million for his transfer.

However, the 2022/2023 season did not go as planned for De Ketelaere and AC Milan.
Despite Maldini’s strong endorsement and the substantial investment, Charles De Ketelaere struggled to adapt under Stefano Pioli’s management, failing to make a significant impact in the Rossoneri’s lineup.
Atalanta saw a potential in Charles De Ketelaere and brought him on loan last season and they have now triggered his release clause of €27 million to sign him on a permanent basis.
