Police in Johannesburg have apprehended a 48-year-old Nigerian man and a 43-year-old South African citizen on charges of drug dealing.

Superintendent Xolani Fihla of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) confirmed the arrests following a joint operation with the Johannesburg Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (JHB-DPCI).
The operation, conducted on April 8, 2024, targeted suspected drug activities at Houghton Hotel. Upon investigation, law enforcement discovered approximately 5kg of Crystal Meth in possession of the Nigerian suspect.
Another individual, identified as the occupant of the hotel room, was found in the hotel’s restaurant.

The seized drugs, valued at around R800,000, led to the arrest of the two suspects, who are currently detained at Norwood SAPS.
Superintendent Fihla emphasized the effectiveness of collaborative efforts in combating drug-related crimes, affirming the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Johannesburg residents.
The successful operation underscores the dedication of law enforcement agencies to uphold law and order in the city.
