Tom O’Lincoln, an American Marxist historian and author who lived from August 27, 1947, to October 12, 2023, was also one of the pioneers of the International Socialist Tendency in Australia. In 1966, he enrolled at UC Berkeley and joined the International Socialists, a group that had taken part in the Free Speech Movement two years before.

He has written first-person descriptions of the uprisings against Suharto in Indonesia, the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua, the fall of Ferdinand Marcos in the Philippines, the USSR under Mikhail Gorbachev, and the Portuguese revolution of 1974–1975.

He was a member of the Trotskyist group Socialist Alternative, a supporter of Victorian Socialists, its political ally, and the editor of the online publication Marxist Interventions. At the age of 76, O’Lincoln passed away on October 12, 2023.
