Known as the “Sunset Strip Killers” for their deliberate killings of women who gathered on the section of Sunset Boulevard known for its nightlife in the summer of 1980, Douglas Daniel Clark, 75, was one half of the duo.

At least six homicides in Los Angeles were brought on by Clark that summer. When he passed away on Wednesday, Clark, a resident of San Quentin State Prison, was hospitalized and his death was attributed to natural causes, according to California prison officials. The coroner’s office in Marin County is looking into the official cause of death.

In the spring of 1983, Clark and his accomplice Carol Bundy received separate sentences. In addition to six counts of first-degree murder, one count each of attempted murder and mutilation/sexual contact with human remains, Clark was also found guilty on one count of each.
