Former leader of the Progressive Conservative party James Lee passed away on October 11, 2023, at the age of 86.

Lee’s influence in provincial politics truly came to the fore during his service in the cabinet of Premier John Angus MacLean between 1979 and 1981.
Following MacLean’s retirement, James Lee took the helm as the leader of the Progressive Conservative party and, subsequently, the premier of Prince Edward Island.
