Anas Sarwar is the Labour leader in Glasgow, Scotland.

Sarwar assumed the role of the Leader of the Scottish Labour Party since 2021.
Sarwar received his education at the independent Hutchesons’ Grammar School and pursued general dentistry at the University of Glasgow. His career took a turn when he became a dentist in Paisley, a profession he continued until 2010.
In 2010, Anas Sarwar entered the political arena by succeeding his retiring father, Mohammad Sarwar, as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow Central.
During his tenure in the House of Commons, he served as the Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party from 2011 to 2014.

Sarwar was elected in the 2016 Scottish Parliament election, representing the Glasgow region.
In 2017, he ran for the leadership of the Scottish Labour Party, though he was unsuccessful, but he made a triumphant return by winning the leadership in the 2021 election.
Under his leadership, the Scottish Labour Party entered the 2021 Scottish Parliament election, where they remained in opposition with a slightly reduced number of Labour Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) compared to the previous election.
Sarwar himself was defeated by incumbent First Minister Nicola Sturgeon in Glasgow Southside, but he secured his position on the Glasgow regional list.
