Cal Wilson’s career in the entertainment industry was nothing short of extraordinary.

The New Zealander doubled as a stand-up comedian, author, and television presenter.

In 2001, Wilson’s talent was recognized as she clinched the “Best Newcomer” award at the prestigious Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Her unique brand of humor and wit earned her critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2004.

A pioneer in improvisational comedy, Wilson co-founded the Court Jesters group in 1990 and even led the New Zealand team to victory at the World Theatresports title in Los Angeles in 1994.

Her 2006 show, “Up There, Cal Wilson,” was a resounding success, selling out at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. This was just one of the many milestones in her illustrious career.

Wilson’s impact extended beyond stand-up comedy. She made memorable appearances in various Australian comedy shows, leaving audiences in stitches. From “SkitHOUSE” to “Rove Live” and “Thank God You’re Here,” her humor resonated far and wide.

Sadly, Wilson passed away on October 11, 2023, at age 53.
