Professional cricketer Dhananjaya de Silva, who was born on September 6, 1991, represents Sri Lanka in all forms of the game as well as the domestic Tamil Union squad. He also serves as the vice-captain of the team in ODI and Test matches. At Sri Lanka Cricket’s annual awards ceremony in November 2017, he was named the Test batsman of the year for the 2016–17 campaign.

De Silva was selected as the Colombo team’s vice-captain for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament in March 2018. He was also included on Colombo’s roster for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament the following month. De Silva was selected for the Twenty20 International (T20I) team of Sri Lanka for their series against Pakistan in July 2015.
