The Brookings Institution has reported the death of David Dollar, a researcher of China, commentator, and former Treasury Department representative to Beijing under President Barack Obama. Nobody’s age or reason of death was mentioned.

Between 2004 and 2009, Dollar worked for the World Bank for more than 20 years, serving as country director for China and Mongolia. His studies concentrated on globalization and Chinese economic reform. He had been an assistant professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, in the past.

He was a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, which he joined in 2013 and where he also presented a podcast on the effects of the world trading system. He had been an assistant professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, in the past.
