David Benedictus parents: Meet Henry Jules Benedictus & Kathleen Constance

The most well-known works of English author and theater director David Benedictus are his novels. In 2009, he published the Winnie-the-Pooh book Return to the Hundred Acre Wood. This kind of book hadn’t been published in 81 years.

Benedictus earlier created an audio adaptation of AA Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories in the 1990s, which encouraged him to create two further Pooh short stories that he then submitted to the Milne estate trustees.

In the end, these were turned into the tales in Return To The Hundred Acre Wood. In addition to Dropping Names and Floating Down To Camelot, he also penned more than 20 additional books, including one set in Cambridge. Uncle Ernie’s System, the author’s manual for winning at the races, sold for 38 editions and brought him celebrity as well.

Henry Jules Benedictus, a professional accountant, and Kathleen Constance (née Ricardo), his mother, had David Benedictus.
“Given peace of mind, financial independence, and a modicum of luck,” David Benedictus said in regards to his writing in 1985. “I may one day produce a novel to be proud of.”
