In the 1990s, Benedictus previously wrote and created an audio rendition of AA Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories. This work served as inspiration for Benedictus to create two original Pooh short stories, which he then presented to the Milne estate trustees.

These ultimately evolved into the tales found in Return To The Hundred Acre Wood. He also wrote more than 20 other works, including his biography Dropping Names and the Cambridge-set novel Floating Down To Camelot. In addition, the author became well-known for his 38-edition racing strategy book, Uncle Ernie’s System.
