Renowned as a novelist, screenwriter, memoirist, and dedicated surfer, Weisbecker’s contributions spanned various genres.
Among his notable works was the “cheerfully immoral novel” titled “Cosmic Banditos,” which garnered acclaim for its unique storytelling.
He chronicled his adventurous journey in the memoir “In Search of Captain Zero” and provided insights into the writer’s life in “Can’t You Get Along With Anyone? A Writer’s Memoir and Tale of a Lost Surfer’s Paradise.”

Weisbecker’s writing prowess extended to the world of surfing, with his articles gracing the pages of prestigious publications like Surfer, Surfing, and The Surfer’s Journal.
Additionally, he ventured into screenwriting, scripting episodes for popular TV series like “Crime Story” and “Miami Vice.”
In 2007, Weisbecker established his own publishing company, Bandito Books, and continued to share his unique narratives.
One of his most compelling works, “Can’t You Get Along With Anyone?,” delved into the complexities of squatter conflicts and a double murder in Costa Rica during the mid-1990s.
Tragically, on October 9, 2023, Weisbecker passed away at the age of 75, leaving behind a literary legacy that continues to captivate readers and surfers alike.
