Long-distance runner Abraham Kiptum is a Kenyan who was born on September 15, 1989 in Nandi County. Kiptum received a provisional suspension from the IAAF on April 26, 2019, according to the Athletics Integrity Unit, for violating the IAAF Anti-Doping Rules regarding the athlete Biological Passport (ABP).

As a result of the suspension, Kiptum canceled his participation in the 2019 London Marathon. On November 11 of that same year, it was confirmed that the results had been erased and suspended for four years.

He came in second place behind winner Marius Kipserem in the inaugural Abu Dhabi Marathon on December 7, 2018, clocking 2:04:16,12. In the 2017 Amsterdam Marathon, he ran a 70-second faster time than his previous best. With a time of 2:11:36, Kiptum made his marathon debut at the Rabat Marathon in 2015. He finished third.
