Gaza City is the largest city in the Gaza Strip and is located within it. As for what Gaza was called before, it has been known by various names throughout history.

The name “Gaza” is first known from military records of Thutmose III of Egypt in the 15th century BCE. The name was officially adopted by the British Mandate in 1922, which governed the region until Israel’s independence in 1948.

Gaza is not located in Africa but rather in Asia. It is situated on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, just northeast of the Sinai Peninsula. The Gaza Strip is part of the Palestinian territories and is bordered by Israel to the east and north and by Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula to the southwest.

The term “Gaza Strip” is a densely populated territory and is governed by the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, with the Palestinian organization Hamas controlling the internal affairs of Gaza since 2007.

The Gaza Strip is distinct from the West Bank, which is another Palestinian territory located to the east of Israel, on the other side of the West Bank barrier. Together, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank make up the Palestinian territories, which have been at the center of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for many years.
