A first-round selection by the Bears in the 1985 NFL Draft, he earned the nickname “The Refrigerator” for his towering frame while playing college football at Clemson. Perry rose to fame as a member of the Bears squad that won the Super Bowl XX championship, the team’s first.

At 335 pounds, Perry set the record for the heaviest player to score a touchdown during the season while occasionally playing fullback in goal-line situations. He bears the title of “heaviest player to score a touchdown” and wears a Super Bowl ring size 25.

Where was William Perry from?

The third youngest of eight sons and four daughters, Perry was born in Aiken, South Carolina, as the tenth of twelve children to die in 2013 house painter Hollie Perry, Sr. and school nutritionist Inez (née Smith).
