Senta Berger parents: Meet Therese Jany & Josef Berger

Austrian-German actress Senta Berger was born on May 13, 1941. For her work in theater, film, and television, she was nominated for numerous accolades; among them are three Bambi accolades, two Romy Awards, an Adolf Grimme Award, the Deutscher and Bayerischer Fernsehpreis, and the Goldene Kamera.

The comedy film The Good Soldier Schweik, starring Berger and the German actor Heinz Rühmann, was made in 1960 by Bernhard Wicki and Artur Brauner. Berger was utilized by Brauner in a number of movies, but she eventually grew weary of musicals.

She relocated to Los Angeles in 1962 and collaborated with celebrities including Charlton Heston, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Richard Widmark, John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, and Yul Brynner. She recalls a less-than-subtle attempt by Darryl Zanuck to get her on his casting couch as one of her Hollywood recollections.

Berger was born in Vienna to teacher Therese Jany and musician Josef Berger. When she was four years old, her father played the piano and she made her theatrical debut. She started ballet training when she was five years old.
Additionally, Berger studied acting in private. She received her first little role in The Unexcused Hour, one of Austrian auteur Willi Forst’s last films, in 1957.
