Dr. Richard Lamar Dent, a retired American football defensive end who played much of his career for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL), was born on December 13, 1960. He received the Super Bowl XX Most Valuable Player award. He was admitted into the Canton, Ohio-based Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

He was selected by the Chicago Bears in the eighth round of the 1983 NFL Draft. He had spent the subsequent 11 years as a member of the Bears. In addition, Richard represented the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and San Francisco 49ers. He has won Super Bowls XX and XXIX twice. Richard won the MVP award for the Bears’ first super bowl victory.
