Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is a global Christian organization that was founded in 1960 by Loren and Darlene Cunningham. The organization was established with the vision of sending young people out into various nations to share the message of Jesus, and which would involve Christians of all Christian denominations.

The story of YWAM began with a vision given to Loren Cunningham in 1956 when he was a 20-year-old student in the Bahamas. In his vision, he saw waves crashing onto the shores of all continents, which then turned into young people preaching and talking to people on the street corners and outside bars.

This vision inspired Loren to establish YWAM, which would send young people out after high school to gain a sense of purpose and welcome all Christians no matter what their denomination.
YWAM’s mission is to “know God and make Him known”. The organization has over 20,000 workers who are driven by a passion to serve Jesus throughout the world.

YWAM offers various ministries that aim to further the Great Commission, such as discipleship training schools, Bible training programs, leadership mentoring programs, internships, mission trips, and more.
YWAM also provides opportunities for individuals and groups to assist YWAM centers in practical ways. For example, one can volunteer at a local food pantry or visit a local nursing home. YWAM also has more than 20 vessels that provide medical and dental care, disaster-relief supplies, Bible distribution, and community development.
YWAM has actively engaged in disaster relief efforts across the world, responding to crises such as Hurricane Katrina, the 2004 tsunami, and flooding in Pakistan. YWAM teams have provided aid, including food, shelter, and medical assistance, to those affected by these disasters, demonstrating their commitment to alleviating human suffering.
Furthermore, YWAM is a member of several organizations, including the International Orality Network, Call2All, OneStory Project, and the United Bible Societies, demonstrating its commitment to working together with like-minded entities to fulfill the Great Commission.
