In a surprising turn of events, Barresi announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in February 2021, only to make a triumphant return to the Netherlands national team in August 2022, much to the delight of cricket fans.
One of the highlights of his career was becoming the 100th victim to the legendary Indian cricketer, Yuvraj Singh, during the 2011 World Cup.
His talent earned him a place in the Netherlands’ One Day International (ODI) squad in July 2018, where he was identified by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as a key player for the team.
Barresi’s journey culminated with his participation in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, where, at the age of 39 years and 153 days, he became the oldest player in the tournament.
