Khan was born in Karachi, Pakistan, to an Urdu-speaking Muhajir family of Pashtun descent.
Her father, Hafeez Khan, was born in Delhi, British India, and moved to Pakistan following India’s division.
Mahira Khan went to Foundation Public School, where she finished her O-Levels. When she was 17, she relocated to California to pursue her degree at Santa Monica College.
She subsequently went on to earn her bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern California. She did not complete her undergraduate degree, however, and returned to Pakistan in 2008.

Mahira Kahn began her VJ career in 2006. Khan is most known for her role as Khirad Hussain in the love drama Humsafar.
She made her feature film debut with Atif Aslam in the 2011 romance Bol, for which she was nominated for a Lux Style Award for Best Film Actress.
Khan made her Bollywood debut in 2017 with the action-romance Raees, in which she co-starred with Shah Rukh Khan.
She has also appeared in the critically acclaimed Pakistani movie Bin Roye (2015), Ho Mann Jahaan (2015), and Superstar (2019).
