What is the beef between Deadmau5 and Marshmello? Why did Marshmello copy Deadmau5?

Deadmau5 and Marshmello have had a history of online feuds, however, it seems like they have buried the hatchet now. The feud goes way back to 2016 when Marshmello was starting his career.

In his music videos, he included a pet mouse named Joel and a mau5head-donning character, which caught Deadmau5’s attention. Deadmau5 was not amused and called out Marshmello on Twitter.

Deadmau5 also outed Marshmello’s real name, which was still largely a secret at the time. These remarks drew a rebuke from Skrillex, who publicly called Deadmau5 a bully shortly thereafter.

However, in a recent interview with GQ, Marshmello extended an olive branch to Deadmau5 and said that he has no animosity towards him. He also shared that he grew up listening to Deadmau5 and considers him a pioneer of electronic dance music.

Deadmau5 is currently one of the highest-paid electronic music producers in the world and is a masked music artist similar to Marshmello and Daft Punk. Deadmau5 was part of the lineup for the 22nd Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2023.
