Deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman, has been wearing his signature helmet for over two decades. The helmet has taken a toll on his spine, causing a scoliosis-like sideways curve.

However, in a social media post from December 8, 2022, Zimmerman clarified that his neck is messed up from probably sleeping like an idiot or slouching behind a computer. He doubts that wearing a mouse head has much to do with it.

Deadmau5 announced his split from his wife, Kelly Zimmerman, in June 2021. The separation was amicable in nature. Deadmau5 is a masked music artist similar to Marshmello and Daft Punk.

Deadmau5’s breakthrough, Random Album Title, was released in 2008 and was certified gold in Canada, and silver in the United Kingdom. Deadmau5 was part of the lineup for the 22nd Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2023.

Deadmau5 composed the score for the 2019 action film Polar and released the singles “Satrn”, “Coasted”, and “Fall” the same year.
