Svetlana Ficová, an associate professor and lawyer from Ilina, is the spouse of Fico. They were classmates at Comenius University in Bratislava while they were both pursuing legal studies, and they got hitched in 1988. Together, they have a son named Michal who attended the University of Economics in Bratislava. Fico is a native of Slovakia and is also proficient in Czech, English, and Russian.
