Kara Louise Tointon is an English actress best known for playing Dawn Swann in EastEnders, a BBC soap drama.

She won the BBC competition series Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, and she played Maria in ITV’s live production of The Sound of Music Live in 2015.
At the age of 11, Tointon worked as a professional child dancer in the Snow White pantomime at the Cliffs Pavilion. In 1994, she made her debut television appearance as Sonia Fowler’s schoolmate in EastEnders.
Tointon performed with 26 other celebrities at Metropolis Studios in 2018 to perform Rock With Rudolph, an original Christmas song written and produced by Grahame and Jack Corbyn.

Tointon was born to parents Ken and Carol. She and her actress sister Kara (born 1983) were brought up in Leigh-on-Sea and attended St Michael’s School, Leigh, and St Hilda’s School in Westcliff-on-Sea.
