Tate Schmitt, a professional American soccer player for the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer, was born on May 28, 1997.
Schmitt spent two years as a student at Desert Vista High School before enrolling in the Real Salt Lake Arizona Academy.

From 2015 until 2018, Schmitt was a student at the University of Louisville, where he played in 80 games and registered 26 goals and 17 assists. In 2015, he was a part of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Freshman Best XI Second Team and the ACC All-Freshman Team.

As a junior, he was selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Third Team as well as the Second Team All-ACC. Schmitt joined Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer on January 3, 2019, as a Homegrown Player.
