Henry Poole, an English professional football player known for his erratic free kicks, played professionally from 31 January 1935 to September 2023. He played primarily as a half back for Port Vale and made the third-most appearances. Over the course of a fifteen-year affiliation, from 1953 to 1968, he made 499 league and cup appearances for the club. The “Valiants” won the Fourth Division championship in 1958–1959 when Poole was a member of the team.

Poole, a Stoke-on-Trent native, went at Carmountside Secondary Modern school with Terry Miles. Poole was a little older than him, but they were teammates from their early teens until their 30s. Poole joined Port Vale as an amateur in February 1953 after spending his formative years with several clubs. While serving his country in the military, he also played for Oxford City.
