English football player Henry Poole, who played professionally and is best known for his erratic free kicks, was born on January 31, 1935, and died in September 2023. He played the third-highest number of games for Port Vale as a half back in his primary position. Over a fifteen-year period, from 1953 to 1968, he played 499 league and cup matches for the club. The “Valiants” won the Fourth Division crown in 1958–1959 when Poole was a member of the organization.

Poole went to Carmountside Secondary Modern with Terry Miles, both of whom were born in Stoke-on-Trent. Despite the fact that they were teammates from their early teens till their 30s, Poole was a little older. Poole signed for Port Vale as an amateur in February 1953 after spending his boyhood with several clubs. While serving his country, he also played for Oxford City.
