Duncan is a Republican. He was elected as a member of South Carolina’s House of Representatives in 2002. He was reelected to a second, third and fourth term in 2004, 2006, and 2008 respectively.

In 2011, the Clemson University alumnus assumed office as a U.S House of Representatives member, having won several awards while in congress.

The Political Science graduate is known for advocating for energy policy, domestic energy production, and opposing regulations that he believes hinders the growth of the energy industry.

During his time in Congress, he was known for his conservative positions on various issues, including limited government and strong support for the Second Amendment.
