Former French football player Stéphane Dalmat was a midfielder. A loan move to Tottenham Hotspur for the remainder of the 2003–04 season followed his two and a half seasons of dissatisfaction with the Italian team Internazionale, during which time he never managed to secure an extended run in the team. This move seemed to be the perfect substitute for Christian Ziege.

The playmaker’s situation did not significantly improve at White Hart Lane where, despite impressing Spurs supporters with some exciting displays, he failed to gain the respect of then-coach David Pleat.

On September 13, 2003, he made his Spurs debut as a substitute in a 4-2 loss at Chelsea. He was hurt for the majority of the season, though.
