Daniel Andrews Parents: Meet Bob and Jan Andrews

Daniel Michael Andrews is an Australian politician who served as the 48th premier of Victoria.

He is the son of Bob and Jan Andrews. His family relocated from Glenroy to Wangaratta in northeastern Victoria in 1983, where he attended the Marist Brothers’ Galen Catholic College.

Daniel Andrews returned to Melbourne in 1990 to attend Monash University, where he was a Mannix College resident and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in politics and classics.

He began his career when he became the Minister for Consumer Affairs in the Bracks Ministry in 2006. Andrews was elected Leader of the Labour Party in Victoria and Leader of the Opposition in 2010.

Andrews led Labour to victory in the 2014 election after serving one term in opposition. In December of that year, he was sworn in as Premier.

He led his party to a ten-seat increase in the lower house in the 2018 election and a third landslide victory in the 2022 election expanding the party’s dominance in the house yet again

He is known as a key figure among Australia’s progressive lawmakers. He was regarded as the “dominant political figure of his generation in Victoria” by The Age in 2022.

Daniel Andrews is set to resign as premier, member for Mulgrave, and leader of the Labor Party in Victoria on 27 September 2023.
