Prior to the start of the 2018 MLS season, it was revealed that Gallagher had signed a contract with the league, putting him eligible for the SuperDraft. Atlanta United picked Gallagher with the 14th overall pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft on January 19, 2018.

On March 24, 2018, Gallagher scored two goals in a 3-1 victory over New York Red Bulls II for the United Soccer League affiliate team of Atlanta. On June 22, 2019, Atlanta United loaned Gallagher to the Scottish Premiership team Aberdeen.
