Lou Holtz wife: Meet Beth Barcus – Beth Barcus is the late wife of former American football player, coach, and analyst Lou Holtz. Holtz and Barcus tied the knot on July 22, 1961, and were married for 58 years until her death on June 30, 2020. He and Beth had four children, three of whom are Notre Dame graduates.

Barcus had been battling cancer for over 20 years and was diagnosed with a rare form of throat cancer in 1997.

Barcus worked with a number of organizations as a volunteer and benefactor, including the No-One Dying Alone program at the Orlando Regional Hospital. In 1998, the pair established the Holtz Family Foundation to advance charitable giving, religion, and education.

Barcus was well-liked by her fellow students at Notre Dame and was well-known for her generosity, compassion, and religion. In 2008, she received an honorary monogram from Notre Dame.
Lou Holtz has said that his wife was his “rock” and his “best friend.” He has also said that her death has left a “hole in my heart” that can never be filled.
In her memory, Lou Holtz donated $1 million to the Hesburgh Library at Notre Dame to support the creation of a new space for students to study and collaborate.
