Who Is Semisi Paea?

Semisi Paea is a rugby lock and flanker for Major League Rugby club New England Free Jacks, the New Zealand club Bay of Plenty, and Tonga.

Paea was born on April 17, 1999, in Tofoa, Tonga, and attended Rotorua Boys’ High School.

He also played rugby at youth level with Ngongotaha Rugby Club.

On the international front, Paea first played for Tonga in 2021 against the Cook Islands.

He has since represented the country in four matches, including the 2022 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup.

Paea previously played for Bay of Plenty in 2021, during the Bunnings NPC, and was selected for the New Zealand Barbarians at the end of the season. So far, he has played in 8 games, and scored 5 points for Bay of Plenty.

In 2023, he got signed with the New England Free Jacks for the 2023 Major League Rugby season, and has so far made 13 appearances and scored 5 points for the club.
