Semisi Paea made his debut for Tonga in 2021 against the Cook Islands, and has since represented the country in four matches, including the 2022 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup.

In 2023, Paea got signed with the New England Free Jacks, for the 2023 Major League Rugby season, and has so far made 13 appearances and scored 5 points for the club.
