Samuela is a graduate of Marlborough Boys’ College in New Zealand and comes from a family with a strong rugby heritage; his older brother is Chiefs prop Atunaisa Moli.

Before making his National Rugby League debut in round 20 as a last-minute replacement, Lousi spent the 2012 season competing for the Auckland Vulcans in the NSW Cup.
He signed with the Waratahs for the 2015 season, although his Super Rugby season was cut short by a shoulder injury he sustained after earning four caps.For the 2015 season, he joined the New South Wales Country Eagles team in the National Rugby Championship.

He joined the Sydney club Southern Districts in 2016. The lock joined the Super Rugby team in July 2016 after signing a two-year contract with the Hurricanes in Wellington.
