His mother Pula was a homemaker and hostess for KLM, and his father Hans Gosselaar was a plant supervisor for Anheuser-Busch.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s father, who was born in the Netherlands, is of German and Dutch Jewish origin. His Indonesian mother was born in Bali, Indonesia.
Gosselaar has described himself as “half-Asian.” Gosselaar speaks Dutch and was formerly fluent in it.

His mother managed his career.. He began modelling when he was five years old and as a child, he starred in ads for Oreo biscuits and Smurf goods, eventually landing guest parts on television shows.

He spent his adolescent years in Southern California’s Santa Clarita Valley, where he attended Hart High School.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar gained world wide recognition when he played Zack Morris in Saved by the Bell. In 1991, he won a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor Starring in an Off-Primetime Series.
He also played Paul Johnson in the ABC sitcom series Mixed-ish, Detective John Clark Jr. in NYPD Blue, and Peter Bash in Franklin & Bash. He was also the lead in the 1998 film Dead Man on Campus.
