Australian rugby union footballer Matt Philip (born 7 March 1994) is a lock for the Melbourne Rebels at the moment. He has previously participated in Australia’s National Rugby Championship with the Western Force and the Perth Spirit.

Prior to joining Southland for the Mitre 10 Cup in 2016, Philip played with the Sydney Stars in 2014 and 2015. Philip began playing rugby by representing Sydney University in the Shute Shield. His performance led to a 2014 National Rugby Championship call-up for the Sydney Stars team. Over the course of two seasons, he appeared for the Stars in 15 games and scored two tries.
