The South African adopted his father Peter’s career path and entered the world of professional snooker. The former No. 2 in the world was known for his powerful, long shots and fashionable waistcoats.

At London’s Wembley Conference Center, Mans defeated Northern Irish prodigy Alex Higgins 8-4 to win the 1979 Masters.
Another highlight of Mans’ career was coming in second place at the 1978 World Championship after losing to Ray Reardon at the Crucible 18–25.

Mans played professionally between 1961 and 1987, winning 14 times the South African Professional Championship as well as competitions all throughout the world.
