South African professional snooker player Pierre “Perrie” Mans won the South African Professional Championship 20 times starting in 1965. Mans won the 1979 Benson & Hedges Masters and advanced to the 1978 World Championship final.

In 1960, Mans won the South African Amateur Championship, the only time he took part in the competition. In 1965, he made the transition to professionalism and defeated Fred Van Rensburg to win the South African Professional Championship.

He accepted an invitation to compete in the BBC TV Pot Black program in 1977, which he duly won at his first attempt after defeating Willie Thorne, Fred Davis, and Ray Reardon (over single frames). In the final, he defeated Doug Mountjoy 90 points to 21.
