Chris and his wife, Katherine Alexinski got married in 1983. They had two children together over the course of their marriage.
Berman and his wife raised their children in a Jewish household in Cheshire, Connecticut. In 2017, his wife Kathy passed away after a car crash in Woodbury.
His wife had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit at the time of her fatal crash, it was determined in 2018. According to the investigation, Katherine was speeding at the time of the incident and failed to use the brakes before rear-ending another car.

Both drivers were killed in the crash. Katherine died as a result of blunt force trauma and drowning after her vehicle crashed into a body of water. Katherine’s system included residues of oxycodone and antidepressants, according to further examination.
The second driver had just returned from visiting his wife’s grave when he was hit by Berman’s Lexus. Because both of the drivers died, the investigation was terminated without charges being filed. The crash was declared an accident.
