For the LSU Tigers, tight end Mason Taylor plays American football. In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Taylor attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School. In order to play college football, he pledged to Louisiana State University (LSU).

During his true freshman year at LSU in 2022, Taylor was given playing time. He collected four receptions for 34 yards in his first game of his career. He caught the game-winning 2-point conversion against Alabama in week 10 to help LSU defeat the Crimson Tide at home for the first time since 2010.

Despite receiving offers from twenty other teams, Taylor ultimately chose the Bayou Bengals on July 29, 2021. On December 15, even after former coach Ed Orgeron was fired, Taylor signed his letter of intent to play for LSU and new head coach Brian Kelly.
