Iconic chef Nico Ladenis who won three Michelin stars, passed away on September 10, 2023, at age 89.

He is survived by his wife, Dinah-Jane Ladenis; two daughters, Isabella and Natasha; and one granddaughter, Lily-Rose Wallace.

Since his passing, tributes have poured in from fans, proteges, family and friends across the globe.

About Nico Ladenis

Nico Ladenis was a self-taught chef from Britain who won three Michelin stars and was known for his mantra “the customer is not always right”.

Ladenis had many celebrity chefs pass under his tutelage, even though he never attended a culinary school.

He had a booming restaurant chain, “Chez Nico”, one of the highest rated restaurant in the UK, “with a ten out of ten in the Good Food Guide and 5 AA Rosettes.”

Till date, his family still run his businesses.

Ladenis was a Hull graduate of Economics and authored two semi-autobiographical books titled “My Gastronomy” and “Nico.”

Ladenis, during his lifetime, worked hard to live up to his personal philosophies – Precision, Restraint, Simplicity and Consistency.

Ladenis won the Best Chef Award in 1988, and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015, both at the Catey Awards.

In 1999, he returned his three Michelin stars following his diagnosis of prostate cancer.
