German-Senegalese professional basketball player Maodo Lô plays for Olimpia Milano in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A and the EuroLeague.

He had previously played for Columbia University in New York City. Lô is regarded as one of the best basketball players in Germany and is known among Columbia fans as “The Chairman.”
Lô joined the Philadelphia 76ers summer league club after going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft. In the Las Vegas Summer League, he participated in the Sixers squad.
He agreed to a two-year, one million euro contract with Italian powerhouse Olimpia Milano on July 15, 2023. The globally renowned German painter Elvira Bach and his Senegalese mother are the parents of Lô.

Lo’s mother, Elvira Bach, is a renowned German postmodernist painter and sculptor whose pieces have hung inside the Guggenheim and the Museum of Modern Art, among other galleries in places like Paris, London, Lisbon, Vancouver, and Venice.
Raised in Berlin, Lo was named in honor of a celebrated West African religious figure, Malick Sy, by his father, Alioune, a couscous farmer who lives in Kaffrine, a southern region of Senegal.
