Uini Atonio, a professional rugby union player for Top 14 team La Rochelle, was born on March 26, 1990. He plays as a prop. He was born in New Zealand, but due to residency requirements, he is allowed to represent France internationally.

Atonio joined French club La Rochelle on July 1, 2011, after being discovered by then-head coach Patrice Collazo at a rugby tens competition in Hong Kong in 2010. He played his debut professional game for the club shortly after arriving in France in the 2011–12 Pro D2 campaign.

He played fourteen games in his debut season, twenty-nine games in his second season, and then thirty games in his third season, the last of which saw him play a key role in La Rochelle’s 2014 promotion to the Top 14.
