Andre Johnson is a professional American football player who played wide receiver for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He was born Andre Lamont Johnson on July 11, 1981, in Miami, Florida.

He originally began playing football in college at the University of Miami, where he became well-known as Optimus Prime. With 1,831 receiving yards, he was the Miami Hurricanes football team’s outstanding wide receiver. On the University of Miami’s all-time career list, he rose to the fifth spot as a result.

Soon after, the Houston Texans selected him with the third overall choice in the 2003 NFL Draft. He then played with the Houston Texans, where he currently owns almost all of the team’s receiving records.
