David Watkins (rugby) wife: Meet Jane Watkins

David Watkins, a Welsh dual-code rugby international who played for both rugby union and rugby league national teams between 1963 and 1974, was born on March 5, 1942, and passed away on September 3, 2023.

He made six appearances for the Great Britain rugby league squad in addition to leading the British and Irish Lions rugby union team. He participated in every World Cup match with the Wales national rugby league side, and during the course of 12 seasons, he played more than 400 games for English club Salford.

He joined Newport RFC in 1961, and on September 2 of that same year, against Penarth RFC, he made his Newport debut. The team at Newport won the Welsh Championship during his first year there.

David Watkins was married to a pretty lady called Jane Watkins. During the World Cup last autumn, Watkins was inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame, the game’s most prestigious honor for on-field brilliance. His wife, Jane, accepted the accolade on his behalf.
