What happened to Plaxico Burress after he shot himself?

Following his accidental gun shot in 2008, football star Plaxico Burress was suspended from the National Football League (NFL).

Burress was also locked up in a protective custody unit of the Oneida Correctional Facility in Rome, New York, for 20 months.

He had been charged with unlawful possession of firearm, after he unintentionally pulled a trigger to his thigh during a night club outing.

Plaxico Burress’ football career in the NFL lasted 12 years, beginning with a successful collegiate career at Michigan State University, where he played with the Spartans as a wide receiver.

Burress was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers as eight overall, in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft.

After five years with the Steelers, Burress joined the New York Giants, where he played a major role in their Super Bowl XLII win, by catching the game-winning touchdown pass.

He had a stint with the New York Jets in 2011, and later returned to the Steelers for the 2012 season before retirement.

In 2017, Burress began his coaching career with the Arizona Cardinals.
